Mothering Without A Manual

A definite excess of candy

Posted November 2, 2008

Suzi was a witch for Halloween, mostly because we found a cute witch's hat in her size on sale at Gymboree. That was a couple of months ago. When I saw BabyLegs had come out with the most precious little Witch legwarmers, that sealed the deal. Luckily Suzi is still pretty agreeable as to what she will wear. I know this was probably our last year of deciding for her!

She flatly refused to have her picture made with me :-(

Every time we put the hat on her head, she took it right off... And she was the slowest trick-or-treater ever (as she insisted on walking), but it didn't matter. Everyone kept saying how cute she was.

Upon approaching each candy station, we coached her on what to say. "First, say 'trick or treat,' okay Suzi? Then, when they give you the candy, say 'thank you.'" She said it some of the time. "Chick-cheet?" and, if we were lucky, "ank-ou." Next year we will be strict about this, but she is still learning.

Now I am trying to figure out what to do with all this candy we've got.
