There is nothing strange about the taste of Old Peculiar

Old Peculiar

STORY TOOLS

Sometimes, you just have to taste a beer based on the name. More often than not, that will come back to bite you in the taste buds. But with Old Peculiar, this concept works out pretty well.

Old Peculiar is a dark, amber ale with a full body and a strong flavor. It’s almost like a porter in appearance with a deep head and a rich aroma.

Though classified as an ale, Old Peculiar doesn’t really taste like one. It has a high hops content, but cuts the bitter taste of those hops with a hint of molasses on the back end. The flavor is very robust and meant to be savored rather that slugged down from the end of the bar.

Think of Old Peculiar as an elegant drink. It should be enjoyed from a frosty mug or cold glass and should be savored.

Overall, the taste is quite aggressive. It’s smooth, refreshing and a beer that manages to be a tad fruity, a bit hoppy, mellow, yet strong, and almost warming.

It’s an enigma beer that you will want each time you strive for something different in your beer fridge. And it’s available at specialty beer stores and higher end bars and restaurants.
