— A dog's bark is being credited for saving three people early Friday morning as fire was destroying a mobile home near the Jockey Lot in Anderson, costing a couple at least one of their pets and possessions, officials said.

An Anderson County Fire Department spokesman said the fire took place around 2:45 a.m. Friday on Mariner Drive.

Three adults were in the home, but only two of them were residents, according to the spokesman.

“The family lost everything,” the official said, adding that the family is staying with a relative in Pelzer.

The cause is accidental, probably linked to a furnace in the 35-year-old trailer, according to fire officials.
