ANDERSON COUNTY South Carolina Department of Transportation maintenance crews removed 16,976 pounds of trash from along 206 miles of highways in Anderson County this year during the agency’s annual public lands fall cleanup.
Bobby Patterson, Anderson County resident maintenance engineer for the transportation department, reported that a total of 121 employees assisted in the cleanup that took place Sept. 8-12 in the county, according to a transportation department news release.
Statewide, 1,594 transportation department employees removed 268,842 pounds of litter from 2,759 miles of highway, according to the release.
