Annual Community Health Fair set for Sunday

STORY TOOLS

Eight churches in the Powdersville/Easley area have united to the host a Community Health Fair from 2 to 4:30 p.m. Sunday at Bethesda United Methodist Church on S.C. 81 in Powdersville. This is the ninth year for this event, which will provide free health screenings, a blood drive and a wide variety of health information exhibits. There will also be door prizes and special activities for children.

The free health screenings will include cholesterol, blood pressure, bone density, scoliosis, vision, hearing and dental screening. The Blood Connection will be holding a blood drive during the time of the Health Fair and donors are encouraged to participate in meeting this great need. Massage therapists will be giving free massages. Special activities for children and youth include a special children’s area with games and health and safety information. Health information will be available in Spanish and interpreters will be available.

“We are excited to have many new exhibits and activities this year,” said Peggy Dulaney from Bethesda United Methodist Church and this year’s health fair chairperson. “With eight churches participating, we hope to reach many people with our message of good health.” The Health Fair is open to the public. Last year’s Health Fair attracted over 400 people.

The sponsoring churches are Bethesda United Methodist Church, Mount Airy Baptist Church, Mount Pisgah Baptist Church, Mosaic Community Fellowship, Potter’s Clay Fellowship, Powdersville First Baptist Church, Providence Presbyterian Church, and Siloam Baptist Church.
