ANDERSON Debates are scheduled Thursday among candidates for two elected positions in Anderson County.
A debate is scheduled between South Carolina state Rep. Don Bowen, Republican, and his Democratic challenger, Tom Dobbins, for the state House of Representatives District 8 seat.
The Anderson County Taxpayers Association comprised of the Citizens for a Positive Anderson is sponsoring the debate, which is to take place at the Anderson County Library, 300 N. McDuffie St., Anderson, starting at 7 p.m. Thursday.
The public is invited. All residents, particularly registered voters living in District 8, are encouraged to attend the free event, according to organizers.
District 8 covers parts of Anderson and Oconee counties.

The Homeland Park Community Task Force will conduct a town hall debate between John Skipper and Dennis Gough, who both are seeking to be elected Anderson County sheriff.
The debate will take place starting at 6 p.m. Thursday at the Homeland Park Volunteer Fire Department on South Main Street in Anderson.
All debate questions will come from the residents of Anderson County. All residents are welcome and encouraged to attend.
