Clemson fans filled the seats of Doug Kingsmore stadium for the season opening baseball game against Miami University of Ohio. Chris Epps led the Tigers with the first hit, steal, then run of the game in the bottom of the first inning.

The annual state rivalry in Columbia, S.C. between Clemson and South Carolina started with a bang for C.J. Spiller and the Tigers. His 88-yard touchdown kickoff return broke an NCAA record, but South Carolina's defense stopped the Tigers often. South Carolina won 34-17.
